From there, you board a scenic morning train that snakes alongside the roaring Urubamba River into the cloud forest. Early Transfer: A pre-dawn start ensures you maximize your daylight hours at the sanctuary. Scenic Rail: Enjoy panoramic windows showcasing dramatic mountain peaks and changing vegetation.
Upon arriving at Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) at the base of the mountain, you immediately board a shuttle bus for the winding, 30-minute ascent up the zigzagging Hiram Bingham highway to the citadel entrance. Pueblo Stroll: A brief transition through the vibrant mountain town surrounded by steep cliffs. Shuttle Bus: Reliable, frequent departures up the steep slopes directly to the entrance gates.
Entering the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu grants you a structured guided tour through the most iconic architectural sectors of the 15th-century Inca citadel.
